About me
Sarah is an attorney and shareholder at Blackwell, Burke, Fowler & Rossow, P.C. Sarah works with a wide variety of clients ranging from financial institutions and asset purchasers to business debtors, shareholders, small business owners, and chapter 7 and chapter 11 bankruptcy trustees. She assists her clients with addressing the complexities of financial distress and finding creative solutions to a variety of commercial disputes in an economically efficient manner. Sarah represents these clients in both state and federal courts and in out-of-court arrangements and is licensed to practice in all courts in the State of Indiana and in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Sarah also has extensive experience in the review and analysis of business agreements, real estate contracts, and lease agreements. Sarah spends a significant amount of time assisting clients with issues arising from agricultural and small business operations. Sarah was appointed as a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Trustee for the Southern District of Indiana in 2022. Within the legal community, Sarah is an active member of the Indianapolis Bar Association, where she serves as the Chair of the Executive Committee for the Bankruptcy and Commercial Law Section; the Turnaround Management Association – Indiana Chapter, where she serves as a Board Member and Secretary; the Indiana Judges and Lawyers Assistance Program, where she serves as a volunteer; and the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges, where she serves on the NextGen Planning Committee for the NCBJ Annual Conference.
Outside of the legal community, Sarah serves as a Board Member and Secretary for Hope Academy Charter School in Indianapolis, Indiana’s only high school for students in recovery from substance use disorder and as a volunteer and former Board Member for Girls on the Run of Central Indiana, a program for 3rd through 8th grade girls that uses running and other evidence-based activities to build their confidence, kindness and decision making skills. Sarah was a participant in the 2019 National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges Next Gen Program, selected as a member of the Indianapolis Bar Association Bar Leader Series Class VX, recognized as a Super Lawyers Rising Star in Bankruptcy and Creditor/Debtor Rights in Indiana from 2018 through 2022 and a Super Lawyer from 2023 through 2025, and recognized as by as a Best Lawyers® in Indiana in Bankruptcy/Creditors’ Rights and Insolvency & Reorganization Law from 2019 through 2025. Sarah earned her B.A., summa cum laude, from Marian University and her J.D., cum laude, from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law.
