Developed in Portland, OR, in 1993, the Friends of the Children model was built around a simple solution: enter the lives of children who face the toughest challenges early, and provide them with a dedicated, caring adult who stays by their side no matter what. Friends of the Children–Boston was founded in 2004 as an independent 501(c)(3), using the national model. We were the first organization established in Boston by the GreenLight Fund, a venture philanthropy firm that brings innovative nonprofits from around the nation to Boston. Our proven model is in multiple cities and growing quickly. NABT and the NABT Foundation (a 501(c)3 non-profit organization) are pleased to be supporting Friends of the Children-Boston for our 2026 community service event. We will be collecting monetary donations to purchase school supplies for backpacks to benefit adolescent children. All donations are tax deductible! If you will be at the conference hotel on Sunday, August 9, make plans to join us from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM to help pack backpacks.
